Self-Advocacy

Self-Advocacy

What is self-advocacy?

Self-advocacy means

  • knowing yourself and knowing what you need
  • knowing who can help you
  • being able to ask someone for what you need.

To be a good self-advocate, you must be able to do all three things.

Brainstorm situations when you might have to advocate for yourself with:

  • a teacher
  • an adult in the community
  • your classmate
  • someone in another situation.

How would you prepare for each situation?
